2018 Serious Games Showcase & Challenge Finalists Announced

The Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) is excited to announce the 23 finalists in the business, government, and student categories for 2018! The team was so impressed with all of the submissions and really enjoyed learning and playing the games during the downselect earlier this month.

VR Serious Games Finding Their Way Into The Workplace

Following the ambitious VR-based employee training strategy disclosed last year, Walmart announced late September its roll-out plan for every US branch of its stores, totaling 4,700 locations.

In 2017, Walmart introduced VR to the world of employee training by using the technology to upgrade training at Walmart Academies nationwide, as a way to easily and efficiently prepare their managers and department heads for the challenges of retail by placing them in stressful scenarios; most notably, a nightmare-inducing Black Friday simulator.

China’s Major Role In The Growth Of Serious Games On A Global Scale

Last month, Play Beyond the Game ­- the first grand exhibition featuring Serious Games in China – was unveiled at the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing. Officially opened on September 8, 2018, it was jointly organized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Urban Design College, the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Art Museum and the China’s Culture and Entertainment Industry Association (CCEA) Game Branch.
